Choose a fully qualified traditional acupuncturist

If you want to experience the full benefits of acupuncture, it’s important to check that your acupuncturist is fully qualified.

In the UK acupuncture is currently unregulated, which means that some of the people offering acupuncture have only attended a short course to learn some very basic techniques. There is much more to acupuncture than simply knowing how to insert a needle.

The ‘Gold Standard’ is a degree in traditional acupuncture that is accredited by the British Acupuncture Assessment Board (BAAB).

If you see BSc Acupuncture, LicAc, or MBAcC after an acupuncturist’s name, you can be sure they’ve completed university degree-level training in traditional acupuncture. As well as the full system of traditional acupuncture and Chinese Medicine they will have studied Western medical science too, so you’re in safe hands.
